About Me
Aged 8, I badgered my parents into letting me have my 1st riding lessons - big mistake! A few years, and many show ponies and jumping ponies later, they were running their own riding school (Pennoak, Hammersley Lane, Penn) and allowing me to give free rein to my competing and teaching passions.
Aged 17 I took a short course at Porlock Equestrian Centre and gained my BHSAI. Continued training with Kate Hamilton FBHS  set me up to pass my BHSII, aged 19. Since then I have continually updated my training with various trainers and examiners, see the list at the end of the page.
 Occasionally I remind myself that I really should try for the BHS Senior Coach and Stable Manager.......
 My competitive career has included eventing to Intermediate level, dressage to Advanced, show jumping to Foxhunter, showing to county workers, and Riding Club to National level.
I now compete my own horse, Fantasmic (Freddie - below), at British Dressage Advanced Medium and would love to go Advanced again..............
Thank you to my trainers over the years;
Monica Bainbridge who ran the riding school where I 1st rode. She let me ride all her Welsh ponies, including the stallions, and cuddle the foals which led me to be totally addicted for life...... Kate Hamilton and Pat Smallwood who instilled rigour, a love of hairnets and stressed that "correct" was the only way.........
Rachel Hillier who taught me to ride flying changes in a muddy field on my fabulous stallion and showed me that dressage was fun........ Maureen Newall who was unfailingly kind and generous with her time and encouragement........ Mike Garman (current trainer) who always finds the positive and gently cajoles me to improve..........
and of course the BHS, PC and BD courses and Conferences I have attended....... who could forget the Carl Hester BD Convention 2012?........not me.........
