Dawn Britnell BHSII (Reg'd) - Freelance Riding Instructor

I am now a List 6 British Dressage Judge - coming to a centre line near you soon!

David and Continuity have won their first International at Rockingham International CIC2*

Roxanne and James contested the BE100 Championships at Weston Park

David and Continuity were on the European 2* training squad for 18 months but sadly did not make the cut onto the team for the Championships in the Netherlands in August 2015. We will be following their progress avidly as we have made many friends and David has learned a great deal from the trainers, Richard Waygood and Jonathan Chapman  https://www.facebook.com/pages/European-2-Eventing-Team-GB/136719546412987?fref=ts

David and Continuity are Gatcombe Championship bound having won their Novice Regional Final at Stratford Hills..........

Not to be outdone Roxanne was 4th in her 1st attempt at BE100U18 at Milton Keynes ...........

Congratulations to David Britnell and Continuity (Brad) who completed their 1st BE Intermediate seen here -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTpPyxiJ-xE

and also have been accepted onto the training squad for the European 2* Eventing Team!

Sophie and Jasper set the world alight at Hambleden and then go on to qualify for the Riding Clubs National Championships show jumping too!

1/5/14 It's been far too long since I updated my website! Sorry! Now that the season is in full swing I will have much more to talk about................

David Britnell, my son, has passed his BHSIT and so now is a BHSII, the same as me! But, as I am quick to remind him, without the experience....

David was successful in his application to The ABRS Jeffress Trust for a valuable scholarship to enable him to continue to train as a coach. He is grateful to the 3 Pony Clubs that proposed him!

He has also passed his HGV which is fantastic as now he can share the driving when we take the horses out to events...........

Talking of which he has already had a fantastic start to the event season with a 4th place in his 2nd CIC1* riding his own Continuity

and a 6th with sister Roxanne's Barrettstown Derby at BE100.

Not to be outdone Roxanne Britnell rode David's Newmiln Jamestown into 4th place in her 1st BE90O before heaving a huge sigh and "retiring" temporarily to do her GCSE' s!

Various clients have kicked off their seasons with successes, large and small.

Lara and Roxy are shown here after a best ever dressage score of 28!

Well done to David and Newmiln Jamestown - 2nd in a big Newcomers class on 19/12/13 at Bury Farm http://www.buryfarmestates.co.uk/  , pipped by the last horse to go by just 3/10ths of a second!
I have recently taken on the position of Education Officer on the Buckinghamshire British Horse Society Committee. This is a new role for me though I have been on a number of committees over the years. Please let me know what you would like your BHS to be doing for you! (now retired)

Louise Jones WON the Search for a Star Show Hunter at HOYS with her fabulous Ed, aka Magic Moments II, who is a grandson of my wonderful event mare Capricorn V - and then featured in Horse and Hound!

Sophie Rothbarth and Frisky Isky won their BE 100 section at Calmsden - and then featured in Horse and Hound!

October 2013
David and Continuity were 6th in their 1st ever CIC1* at South of England.

And in the same week Newmiln Jamestown won for the 1st time at BE Novice level on a fabulous score of 28 (24 dressage). This win was featured in Horse and Hound! (below)

David and Continuity won at BE Novice at Milton Keynes on 24th August

 & Roxanne
and Newmiln Jamestown scored just 21pens in their 1st Intro together, including scoring an incredible 10 for their halt!

Emily Estcourt and her fabulous Welton Sophisticat scored a great win in their BE Novice section at Goring and walked away with a lovely silver bowl for the year.
David rode Continuity to 8th place in both the British Dressage Novice Open and Elementary Restricted Regional Finals at Addington

BHS Stage 4 Stable Manager
Congratulations to Lou Austin who has just passed the tricky Stage 4 SM at her 1st attempt! All those hours poring over bits and conformation worked.......

More BE prizes!

Congratulations to Emily Estcourt, 3rd and 8th at her 1st attempts at the next level up at Milton Keynes,

and David Britnell, 6th at BE90 riding his sisters horse at the same event.

And I was thrilled too that Roxanne had a lovely double clear when she stepped up to BE90 with Barrettstown Derby at BCA.

David stormed round with Continuity (Brad) for a 3rd in the Novice at BCA.
Training Bursary Awarded to David
David is thrilled to receive a £750.00 Training Bursary from Symm, sponsors of Hambleden International Horse Trials..... now then, where to spend it?........
Congratulations to David Britnell riding Continuity who has now qualified for the BD Regional Championships at Novice Open and Elementary Restricted level and was also interviewed in Horse and Hound about two of his wins.
He has also qualified Newmiln Jamestown for the Elementary Regionals.
Kim Young and Marcus are qualified for the Novice Restricted Regional Championships. Looking forward to August......
BRITISH EVENTING WINS Congratulations to client Emily Estcourt who won a strong BE100 Open section on her lovely mare Welton Sophisticat (Sophie) at Mattingley on 08/06/13.  Emily has worked hard to establish a softer outline and more trust in this dainty mare who now appears to barely touch the ground. And they won a rug!!!!!

Congratulations to client Emily Estcourt who won another BE90 (Ascott Under Wychwood 2/6/13) riding her fabulous Fernhill in the Shade (Batman) aged 6. This talented combination is a pleasure to coach, always soaking up the information and doing their homework. So pleased that it worked on the day AGAIN!
Congratulations to David and Newmiln Jamestown on qualifying for the BE Novice Regional Championships by coming 2nd at Rockingham.
ROYAL WINDSOR WIN  2013 (featured in Horse and Hound, Good Week, Bad Week)
David Britnell BHSAI, UKCC L2 , my son, won the British Horse Society Instructors Challenge at Royal Windsor Horse Show in May.
He won the show jumping (1.10 accumulator) outright and was 2nd in the Elementary dressage to win the overal £200 Challenge on Newmiln Jamestown (9). He was 3rd overall riding Continuity (9)
Seen here with Lyn Petersen, Chief Executive of the BHS.
With his winners by the river in the Park.

David Britnell was 5th on 1st May 2013 at the Mitsubishi Badminton Grassroots BE100 2012 Championships. http://grassroots.badminton-horse.co.uk/

The link is a Hatcam video where you get to ride round above the horse as the camera is strapped to the hat, we think the clicking is the strap- hang on to the neck strap - you might get dizzy!
Continuity (Brad) and he were lying 2nd after the dressage on 27.5. Unfortunately they then tipped a pole in the show jumping. A fantastic, quick, clear across country left them 5th and looking forward to a £250 cheque. If you click this link you can ride around the Badminton tracks with David! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GM2FZbmxi34

Lou Austin and Tinker have embarked on their competition season in fine style....look at this for an uphill canter from a very big baby horse. Congratulations on your rosettes Lou.

Congratulations to Kim Young and Ad Appel on their first visit to the British Dressage National Winter  Championships 2013! They did very well indeed in the Blue Chip Novice Restricted Championship and were just two mistakes off a top placing. So proud of you both!
